Default x5 jumps forward when i pull up at lights etc

Hi all ive just brought a x5 3.0d on a 55 reg and straight away im noticing that when i pull up at lights or just stop the car seems to jolt forward, im now a bit worried that the gearbox is on its way out, anyone had or heard of this happening....

It does seem to be a common problem with this gearbox , mine has been doing it sporadically since I bought the car nearly 3 years ago .

I have seen various suggestions/theories e.g. changing the gearbox oil does/ does not cure it . Software upgrades do /do not cure it.

I have learned to live with it and like I say it hasn't got any worse in almost 3 years.

I do find that putting it into sport mode as you pull up seems to stop it happening. This also helps to prevent an occasional hesitancy in setting off from a junction as the car seems to want to pull away in a higher gear.
