how much hp can you run to the 1998-2002 bmw m3 without having to worry about building up the engine or transmission?
Sorry, i didnt know I was crossing over into another type of m3. I was interested in the 333hp one, so the 2002 and any previous years that still had the 333hp engine. My question was that if I decided to buy one and add a supercharger or a turbo or a twin turbo, what is the hp cut off I should stick to so I dont damage the engine. For instance, I know with the 04 ford mustang gt, I could add a supercharger but if I run more then 500hp through the engine I will throw a rod or damage a piston but with the 2004 cobra which has all forged internal components I can go all the way up to 1000hp without having to worry about damaging the engine. My question is whats the hp limit for the m3 bmw??

I suggest you check out www.dinancars.com for your question. I have the Dinan S package on my 2002 M3 which has chip, exhaust and air intake as well as strut braces that take my M3 from 333 hp to about 360. Not HUGE, but removes the rev limiter and increases overall power. It's like a Go Kart, unbelievable.
But if you're wanting even more then their Stage 3 and above kits take you into the 400hp + range for MONSTER power and detail what is needed.
all the best.
