steering went stiff and checked? the pump and the shaft from the pulley going into the pump had broke so that was obvious, then a few weeks later the steering went stiff again so i thought maybe it happened again so i took the pump out and it wasn't broken, so i thought maybe the new pump was faulty sent it back under warranty and fitted another one, the same thing today the steering has gone stiff any ideas please.

you are bleeding the system if you have air in the system it will cause this

might be the alternator, some cars have a separate output for running the pump, if the current is too low the pump can fail to run, this happened on my Vauxhall
