View Full Version : Which BMW would I get the most bang for my buck? An E46 M3 or an 850ci?

I'm looking to get a car, and these 2 cars have everything I'm looking for. They both are safe, sleek, beautiful, luxurious, reliable, powerful, and have the prestige of a BMW.

However, I'm not looking to spend more than about 25k on each of them. I would even be willing to wait for the price to go down. I'm also not looking for power here. It's nice to have, but it's not necessary.

My question is, which is the better car overall in terms of reliability, and all those other factors I mentioned?

The 850ci is not a car you see everyday. In fact, I think I have only seen 1 in person. It is truly a timeless looking car. The thing is, I hear these are maintenance nightmares. But I think if I find a great servicing background on it, and it comes with a warranty, I'll be ok. I don't know how many miles these can go for however. But I would love to be asked about the car on the streets, and brag about a V12. Should I opt for an 840ci?
What about the M3? I practically drool everytime I see one in person. And it has a manual tranny, which I have yet to learn, so I'm worried about learning it on this car. If worst comes to worst, I'll find a junker car and learn it off that.

The thing is, I'm unsure how many miles these can go before something major happens.

What is the better BMW? Which will give me the bigger bang for my buck?
I want a sporty coupe. Hmm, seems like they both fit the criteria.
What about the 840ci? Isn't that V8 also used on the 740i?

What about reliability on these cars? How long before something major goes wrong?

you seem way under educated on bmw's, coupes, and manual transmissions, maybe you should concentrate on an automatic transmission civic or something similar to that . lol
