I just bought a used BMW with 19k miles on it. The dashboard showed engine overheating and Service Engine soon light. The BMW dealer checked the car and said that "There was a loose ground that was causing the issues". what does that mean. Can it really overheat the engine.
I never heard of this thing before.
Any advice is appreciated.

Yes a loose earth wire can cause over heating.
