I got into my car today and it would not go into reverse! I got nothing - no noise or shifting at all. I put it in neutral and my son pushed me out of my garage. Car goes into DRIVE and behaves like its "ultimate driving machine" self going forward. (it's an automatic) I had noticed it making a little bit of a clunking noise before when I put it in reverse, but, when asked, my mechanic said it was not the transmission, So, what could it be? (and is it going to cost a lot?) I lost my job 3 months ago and this could not come at a worse time. Thank you for any help or advice. Happy holidays.
