my bmw is over revving when first start up on the idle then as gets warmer settles down but also when first startup it is really groggy splutteringin fact but then gets warm and is perfectly fine tried changing air filter oil and oil filter new plugs does anyone know what problem is it is a bmw e36 316i saloon 1995 on a n plate

it could be your thermostat or your water pump.Computer detects open loop for a certain period.

easy dude from your tappet cover runs a breather pipe it is about a 16mm rubber pipe it runs to your pcv valve on the right hand side of your intake manifold remove that pipe it looks okay from the out side but once you have removed it you will see it is fuked on the inside so just replace that pipe with a 16mm pipe any pipe that is, that will do the trick mail me at pnservicecentre@yahoo.com if you need more help cool john
