...have a dipstick? I'VE LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD CAREFULLY AND I DONT SEEM TO FIND ANY DIPSTICK FOR THE TRANSMISSION FLUID... I DONT THINK THAT MY CAR HAS A DIPSTICK BUT OTHER THAN USING A DIPSTICK IS THERE ANY OTHER WAY OF CHECKING?

Fill plug on the side of the case, should be up to the bottom on a level surface.

I don't know how to check the oil. What I know is, you don't need to. All you suppose to do is to have the car serviced whenever it tells you so. (from the service indicator on the dash). If the oil is too low, the oil indicator will light up.
If there's nothing shown on the dash. Just drive the car. I never opened my hood unless the washer liquid needs refil.

The auto transmission fill plug is located under the car, on the side (near the back corner) of the transmission pan. Don't confuse this with the DRAIN plug which is at the BOTTOM of the transmission pan.

With the car level, the fluid should be almost dripping out of the fill plug.

Be aware that there're a bunch of 99/2000 BMWs with auto transmission failure because their owners did not change out the fluid. BMW calls the fluid a "lifetime fill", but never believe in that kind of bs... failures tend to occur around 100k miles if fluid (and filter) isn't changed at 60k miles intervals.

See link... particularly page 7.
