View Full Version : BMW 328i valet parking rendered useless by ski access?

Hi,
I recently purchased a 2008 BMW 328i.
In the owners manual it is stated that the trunk lock in the glove compartment is useful for valet parking.
Such that you slide the electronic lock in the glove compartment to lock position, lock the glove compartment itself with the integrated key in the remote, take the key out and hand in the remote to the person in charge for valet parking.
But i'm wondering, can't the person just easily open the ski access lid and:
- take w/e is in the trunk?
- pull the emergency release handle of the truck lid in the trunk through the access?
If those scenarios are possible, then why is there a truck lock feature? Is there anyway we can lock the ski access?

Thanks for responding,
Ski access can be completely removed so there is no need to cut through the bag. The way to remove it is to put you hand on the handle instead of the pressing the button. The lid will just pop out.

As for doing anything, you can easily read for the emergency release knob and open it. The knob is like a triangle I believe (haven't tested it myself).
Also when bag comes out the hole gets larger so if you are skinny enough or you have long hands, you are all set.
