I was recently given a 1988 BMW 535i. I was told the only issue with the car is that the braks need some work and that the battery is dead. The body is in pristine condition and other than some cracking in the interrior leather it seems to be in mint condition.

Unfortunately it had been sitting in a garage for a year then it was sitting outside for about 8 months (october to June) The beraks have siezed and the battery is dead.

For some reason when you put the key in the ignition it won't unlock the wheel also we can't seem to get the trunk or the hood open to see what is going on.

Can anyone direct me to a website (forum) or have advice on how to proceed fixing it?
