Hi all
I am just wondering if anyone can advise on why should a 320D E46 make me wait about 15min with no attempt sometimes before starting normal again?
The car is equipped with a factory-fitted immobiliser, and the car runs perfect apart from that.
Many thanks in anticipation

Does the car crank with no fire(i.e. out of gas), or no crank (i.e.dead battery)?
This will help in diagnosing the vehicle.
The spark plugs or the battery might be flat.

hmmm, afraid this answer is not going to all that helpful, but I remember reading about this problem - some folks would reverse their car out of a garage - for example- turn the engine off, and then have to wait for a while before the car would restart. A friend got so fed up with this 'feature' that he sold his car. Apparently it is to protect something from burning out... can't remember what... apol. I read this in the 'ask mick?' car section in The Daily Telegraph. they might be accessible on line?
I think... maybe... it had something to do with the glow plugs?, or richness of mixture on starting? sorry, cant remember.

Sounds like some sort of trip switch, take it to a dealer and get them to plug it in, they should diagnose the probelm. Be prepared for a BIG BIG bill.
