I checked the lines for fuel leaks, and see none. But when I dirve, especial with a lot of peopl in my car, it smells like gas.

Your fuel filter might be getting cloged and when you engine works harder it asks for more gas which goes through your fuel filter and it leaks out. Gas dries up pretty quick so you might not see it by the time you stop and check for it.

You didn't say how you checked the fuel lines. You may need to do more thourough testing, making sure to duplicate the conditions in which the problem usually happens. There is a dye you can add to the gas that will flourecse under UV light.That way you can find the leak visually even after the gas has evaporated.
