How do I get BMW to add an oil cooler to my 2007 335. They added them from the factory post-March build cars. Mine was built in February and they are giving me a hard time about adding it. Other users have reported that BMW has retrofitted the cooler for no charge except they have to sign a waiver.
Any thoughts?
Call BMWNA at 800-831-1117. BMW is only retrofitting the oil cooler to certain 3 series cars that have the SPORT package. This is because they feel that sport package drivers may practice more 'spirited' driving than a non-sport owner. However, you should be able to have the cooler retrofitted to your car, paid by BMW.
If you call BMWNA and speak to a representative, they may choose to escalate the claim to New Jersey (Call center is in Columbus, OH; corporate it is NJ) If they do, you are going in the right direction. If your claim is escalated to the home office, a Sr. representative should be giving you a call about your car. They are generally helpful; especially to owners with new BMW's. I would explain that you plan on using your car to go up big hills while hauling a lot of passengers. They can authorize a dealership to install the cooler at no charge if they feel there is a need.

Ask the dealer to have the District Manager meet you at the dealership to discuss. They have to do this by policy if you request it. Talk directly with the district manager. Be polite and stress what a good customer you are, and they will do it.

Call the 1-800 number in your owner's manual. BMW at that number are the only ones who can authorize that procedure. As for talking to a "District Manager" - they generally don't talk to the general public/customers directly.

Write to or call BMW, and not the dealership.
