Im not a aggressive driver or speedfreak. There is a clunking noise coming from the rear of the car when I go over a bump, and a continual grinding noise .Any ideas of what this could be.Rear mounts gone??suspension shot??? And what sort of cost would be involved. Thanks for any help.im thinking of scrapping it and getting a Alfa 156,is that a decent car

Stand behind that car and look at the rear tires with the amount of weight you normally have in the car. Negative camber tires leaning in at the top and toe out front of the tire visable from the rear both will wear the tires quickly. BMW rear suspension bushings both subframe and rear trailing arms cause this condition. Alfa 156 a Good Car? Better ask people who own one.

That does sound extreme, just had my rear ones changed but that was for a year. They are rear wheel drive but something dont sound right. Take it to a garage and ask?
