Sports version)? My research has found "LOTS" of complaints about the 740(all models) from 1990-1998. I found a 1999 740i I would like to buy but there are some very angry bimmer owners. It seems strange that for 2 weeks I can't seem to find out much about the 740i unless they are talking about the "sport" version. And I have only found a few complaints about it. What scares me is the extreme number of unhappy buyers of a $60k+ vechicle, all the problems and headaches, but when it comes to the year I want, hardly no comments to be found.

Mine is a 2000 iL and runs like a charm and is mint! BTW, the base sticker was $78K delivered. I got mine two years old for much less...hehe! Do a solid background check and repair record with the dealer. That info should be readily available.
That body style ran from 1996 thru 2001 with design changes to the lights and trim. Sports versions tend to have been 'run' a bit!
