My grandmother is purchasing me a BMW 328i for a graduation present (which i am very very grateful), she is willing to spend 30k cash. I was wondering if I would have to get the 328i sedan, or do you think the dealership will lower the price for the coupe to 30-32k since im paying cash. According to edmunds.com the 3series coupe MSRP is $35,600 and the invoice is $32,750. Thnk you all.
I am talking about a new 2008 bmw not a used car.

Dealers prefer to you finance, because they can make money from marking up the finance.
You will not get a discount for paying cash.
Best you can hope for is about $800 over invoice, so you would be a many thousands short for a coupe. When you are working invoice + markup, don't forget to include the training service fee and MACO. Dealers pay these fees to BMW. It is part of the true invoice price.
Do you have a lot a frequent flier miles?
Munich pick up invoice base price for a 328i coupe is $30,500. Destination charge is the same $825. No Training fee or Maco on European Delivery cars. Add in dealer markup and a night in a hotel and you are still about $2000 short though...
The sedan is going to get a face lift in a few months. Might be worth waiting for the 2009's.
I've posted links to accurate pricing . Read both, prices just went up. Edmunds can be wrong sometimes.
