Hey, I'm thinking about buying 2005 BMW 530I and it has Sports package. I test drive it today and some aspects of driving made me think - is everything OK with suspension?
The car response time is awesome- it responds on any steering wheel movement. The feel of the road is great (little bumpy, but it’s large rims), BUT I have a concern- when I'm making a turn, the steering wheel turns great BUT it stays that way, it does not go back (it does, but very slowly). When I turn, I have a feeling that if I'll not turn steering wheel back, it will be stuck in the same position. I draw many cars and never had that kind of feeling- usually steering wheel comes back...

Is it usual with sports package or you thinking its suspension problem?

Hmm... try this question on www.bimmerforums.com. Is there a way you can try another one because that does sound odd.

it may be due to the active steer system which recalibrates itself in terms of "weight" and ratio with speed. if this is not it, it may be that the surface of the road was severely crowned forcing more weight onto the inside tire, requiring added assistance to move it back to the central position. it is pretty rare to have mechanical issues with a brand new bmw, although i know it happens. in fact, i had a problem with my 05 mini which needed to have the steering column replaced. free of course. hehe i love bmw.
