know about tensioner and general parts want to know anything hidden or tricky. heard possibly the water pump too???....not sure. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Thanks BMWSGOD 04-02-2008, 06:08 AM If your tensioner is working ok its an easy job to replace the chain with very little tools. If your tensioner is broken then your in trouble. The center bolt on the vibration dampener has to be tightened to 300 ft lbs. If you don't then it will fall off soon in the future. We try not to touch the lower timing chain cover if we don't have to. Plus all the stuff behind it should be good for the life of the engine. To change just the timing chain you just break open a link, attach your new chain to the old one and feed it thru. Then to close the chain you just sledge the metal over to complete the chain again.
