I have a white 96 328i auto that I got about a year and a half ago with just under 84k, now I have just under 100k. I paid $5,500 for it and so far I've done pads, rotors, 2 oil changes, had the fluid changed in the tranny and diff, and replaced the drivers side window regulator. Now I have a good size heater core leak, no heat because the thermostat is stuck open, I was backed into and need to replace the fender marker light and a few other parts, the window regulator needs to be done again, and some other odds and ends stuff.*
I have a guy that would like to trade me for a white 95 740i auto. It has around 180k. The fuel pump, water pump, valley pan gasket, timing chain and adjusters have been replaced along with other parts an has a handful of aftermarket upgrades as well. The guy owns a repair shop that one of my friends works for and all the work has been done by him and his employees. He says the car runs like a top and doesn't leak any fluids, a/c blows frigid and heat will melt you.
I'm very interested in the trade and can't afford to fix the issues with my 328i and having no heat or foggy windows in the new england winter sucks and it's not safe. I figure if I trade my car I won't have to put out any money and I can get a car that fits my needs. The mileage scares me even though I know that a well maintained BMW will live long past the 200k mark.*
Any opinions on the situation would be great and I don't want to rush into anything and get screwed in the long run.
Thanks
