Im looking to buy a 2004 735Li or a 2003 745Li, what are the differences between the two cars in terms of technology advances and reliability?

i was thinking of getting the 745Li because ive heard it has more technology features over the 735Li but hard to tell what the 745Li has over the 735Li in terms of technology.

ive heard the 2003 745Li has reliability problems.

initially i was looking at getting a 2004/2005 730i, but i was advised to get a 2004 735Li.

apparently the iDrive on the 2004 and later years are much better than the 2002/2003 models.

whats the difference between the 735Li and 745Li and which one would u recommend?

Hey M&W

Firstly, they are both two great cars! Below I've outlined some differences between the above models
> 745Li is powered by a 4.4L V8, producing 245kW, versus the 735Li, powered by a 3.6L V8 producing 200kW. 0-100kph speed for the 745Li is 6.5 seconds versus 7.6 for the 735Li. Both have very similar fuel cycles
> On the 745Li, you get the following major extra features (according to RedBook AU): power blind for the rear, active front headrests, power tailgate, sunroof (as standard) and an auto-levelling suspension. Keep in mind though that the 735Li you are looking at could have the above features optioned originally by the previous owner(s)
> Both are pre-2005 E66 version 7 Series. The 7 Series was revised in 2005, with BMW giving it an improved iDrive system and a less 'offensive' look (as deemed by several BMW lovers). So, in answer to your question, I'm pretty sure the iDrive systems are identical
> In terms of reliability, individual model reliability isn't widely available. However, as a whole, the E65/E66 7 Series had an average to below average reliability rate. Going for the newer model (735) means that some faults found in earlier models could have been sorted out by the 04 model.

I hope I've assisted :D
