Firstly, why are you buying a 40k+ car and then worrying about the gas mileage? 40k is without any of the cool options. Whats going to happen when that thing needs new tires? BMW's are fairly reliable but are expensive when they do need stuff. Stop and go traffic expect 15 mpg - 18 (A little more or less) depending on your driving style and what your traffic is like.
